Hello, Dwarf Planet!

 I was recently encouraged to be more aware of revolutionary NASA space endeavours (having somehow managed to miss yesterday's Pluto news), when it comes to planning salad logistics. So we are making a quick move from the predominant Euro politics to New Horizons - quite literally.

What i saw in the video on spiegel.de were

• chickpeas and a 
• scamorza. 

We will add

• pointed peppers representing a dwarf's cap, because i like the term, dwarf planet. we can add some 
• lemon (sun) for light being shed on what used just be a "grey wart". And we will add some green 
• (parsley) as a frog greeting. 

What do you say?

Most unfortunately, they decided to send a

• fennel shaped

vehicle (I don't like fennel). This is to be excused by the fact that apparently this happened 9 years ago, but not really.

Someone please encourage NASA to be more aware of our salad blog. Thank you.

Greeks & Krauts = friends forever

Currently not the most popular combination, so we hope to affect bilateral discord with some salad love.

• coleslaw [krautsalat]

• green pepper or purslane, if you like

Strawberry Rocket

As simple as convincing:

• strawberries
• rocket
• avocado
• spring onion

• orange juice
• balsamic vinegar syrup
• salt, pepper
• honey

Here they are again, I guess there is no getting around Greece these days. This set out to be saté dressed cucumber salad when some of the main ingredients turned out to be blocked by a dev meeting in the lunch room!

So that's how olive oil, greek peperoni and parsley found their way into this recipe ...

• cucumber
• some greek peperoni
• parsley
• peanuts, chopped
• soy sauce
• orange juice
• some lemon juice or white  balsamic vinegar
• olive oil

Bruschetta Salad

Take some

• dry bread

from the day before. Soak it in a little bit of water if need be, otherwise just break it into pieces and soak it with the juice of your chopped

• tomatoes. Add
• lemon juice
• salt, pepper
• shallot
• parsley
• black olives

and pour over some

• olive oil.

Add some mixed bruschetta spices if you like. Garlic would be nice, too.

This is a nice way to make use of left over bread.

Fig Salad with Orange Mustard Dressing

• 3-4 figs
• romaine lettuce
• mustard pickles (Senfgurken)

• shallot, chopped
• white balsamic vinegar
• dijon mustard
• olive oil
• orange marmalade
• honey
• salt, pepper
• some basil leaves, chopped

Scantily dressed Italian

• basil leaves
• lamb's lettuce

You want a ration of about 1/3 basil and 2/3 lamb's lettuce.

• tomatoes, slices
• some spring onion
• some feta or mozzarella

• fresh chilies to taste

We are not doing a proper dressing today, just sprinkle with

• olive oil
• lemon juice
• balsamic syrup
• salt, pepper
