Crunchy Yumyummy Noodle Salad

This recipe may sound a little odd, but was absolutely tasty.

Find a package (any flavour is fine really, I recommend hot&sour soup) of
  • instant noodles (waiwai, yumyum, something like that)
Chop up a
  • 1/2 a Chinese cabbage (thin stripes)
and place in bowl. Cover with the smashed, uncooked noodles
  • some coriander and
  • spring onion and
  • some fresh red chili, chopped.

Now for the dressing you want
  • the soup powder that came with the noodles
Use that as seasoning together with
  • the juice of a lime
  • a little soy sauce and
  • some sesame oil (roasted) and
  • some peanut oil.

Krautsalat à la Tante Kerni's Mama

Same same but different. Be prepared to be eating Chinese cabbage for the rest of the months, these guys can be huge ...

Here is a very simple one. When my mum makes salat, for some reason, it is usually Chinakohl and comes with this dressing:

Finely chop a shallot and some spring onions.
Cover them with lemon juice, salt (lots), sugar and pepper.
Add a little olive oil and, finally, some yoghurt.

Add the chopped Chinese cabbage and a tomato.

It's good to have this sit a little, prior to serving.
